I know it's been a while since I have written a Bible study blog, but I have been studying my Bible nonetheless. So I am getting back into the swing of things. Today I read Romans 4. I have been reading a lot lately. I read Acts last week, this week I am reading Romans. :)
Romans 4
I will start off with verses 1 through 3 (paragraph 1). This is where Paul begins to speak about Abraham's faith to the Jews in Italy (Rome) because they were so proud to be descendants of Abraham. Abraham was saved by faith and Paul used this to speak into their hearts. Abraham was not made righteous by what he did and he couldn't boast about what he was doing to be made righteous because the deeds weren't what made it so. If you look in Genesis 15:6 it says:
"Abraham believed in God, and God counted him righteous because of his faith."
So we are made righteous by our faith, not our deeds.
Now 4 through 8 are a little bit more into detail about this. Think of it this way... When you work at your job (for me, I chat all day LONG with people who don't particularly like me) and you are hard working, you do your deeds and you get paid for it, even if you don't particularly like it... You are given a "gift" that you WORKED for. Now in reality we are now on the spiritual track. You can work all you want to spiritually, but it will get you no reward, no gift, no "money". You will get nothing if you only do good deeds. The real thing you need it FAITH in Jesus Christ! This guy has it all! Have faith in Him because He even forgives SINNERS!!! BTW We are ALLLLLLL sinners. Now think of this,,, You go to work and sit on your butt all day and do nothing but believe that your "boss" is gonna forgive you and pay you anyway, you just have to have faith in Him and follow Him and do what he needs you to do if it comes to that and SOMETIMES you even WANT to work even though you won't get paid extra. In the end you get paid OODLES! This is what faith is like.. sorta. You have faith in Jesus and you are filled with the Holy Spirit which, get this, makes you want to step out IN FAITH and do good deeds that God needs you to do.
For me, this is mission work. I love Jesus. I LOVE Him! I would do anything for him in a heart beat. I felt Him tug on my heart to do missions and that's what I will ultimately do in life. Just pray about it, God has something in store for EVERYONE. God does not create something or someone who He will not have a use for! Be joyful because your sins have been forgiven and wiped off your slate by the blood of Jesus. :) That's not really a happy thing..death..but it kinda is.. It was meant to happen. it was God's plan.

Day 22/365 Bible in a Year
Today I read Romans 7-8 inbetween by first class and second. I also wrote by blog in my journal!! Quiet time was amazing!!
DID YOU KNOW that we aren't bound to the laws anymore?
Romans 7:1
"Don't you know that the law applies only while a person is living?"
An example of this is shown in verses 2-4 with marriage and death. Read it, don't just take my word.
Romans 7:4
"You died to the power of the law when you dide with Christ."
Romans 7:6
"We have been released from the law, for we died to it and are no longer captive to its power. Now we can serve God, not in the way of obeying the letter of the law, but in the new way of living in the Spirit."
Does that mean that God's lawss are sinful? No! (Romans 7:7)
The law helps reveal our sins to us, but I meant that because the law tells us what not to do sin finds ways to pull us into breaking the laws. If there were no laws, yes, we would be sinning no doubt!! But we wouldn't know the difference between sin and no sin. Sin wouldn't try to tempt us so much if there were no laws to break, am I right? Would it not be WAYY easier to be sinless if sins didn't exist or if the laws didn't?
We are slaves to sin, but we are only slaves to what we choose to obey (Romans 6:16) Sin tugs us, tells us what's "better" for us. It is really only telling us what the flesh wants...LIVE IN THE SPIRIT! (Romans 7:25) The nswer is Jesus Christ our Lord!!
Christ died for us as the only complete requirement of the law. He was sinless, never breaking ONE law, but still was murdered! And since He died for us, we are no longer controlled by sin. We live in the Spirit, and Christ helps us resist sin.
I love this verse, Romans 8:17
"And since we are His children, we are His heirs. In fact, together with Christ we are heirs to God's glory. But if we are to share His glory, we must ALSO share His SUFFERING."
It reminds me of the thing I forget the most...we are ALL children of God. When we go to Heaven we will ALL share the kingdom of Christ, the kingdom of God has been given to us freely...but to reach that Kingdom and share it with Christ, we MUST share in His suffering also!
Guys, face it. There WILL be times of persecution in the present and the future. There have been in the past, it is inevitable! But pray and all will be well.
Our suffering won't be long. His kingdom is coming. (Romans 8:25 says be patient and wait and be confident.)
There is a process to being given God's glor, and to give it back with your life and your heart. God causes everything to work together for the good of His kingdom.
*1* God knew US before we existed.
*2* He chose US to be his children.
*3* He called US to come to Him.
*4* He gave US right standing with Him.
*5* God gave us His glory to...
*6* Give His glory back to Him by showing it to the world!
You can find these in Romans 8:29-30
Nothing can seperate us from God's love!

Day 21/365 Bible in a Year
Well that day that I read the Sermon on the Mount I wasn't sure what day it would actually be on, but apparently it's today haha! So soon!
Chapter 5
One day Jesus saw the crowds gathering, He sat on the mountain side and started teaching His disciples. His words mean so much and people these days don't even care. He tells us how blessed we are, even when we are being persecuted (church fires here) we are blessed. The Kingdom of Heaven is ours!! We are the salt of the earth, the light. We CANNOT lose our taste, we CANNOT cover ourselves up. People are supposed to know who we are (Christians) by watching us, even if we don't say ANYTHING! We should help heal the earth like salt heals wounds, flavor this world like salt does food, preserve this world and the goodness in it like salt does foods.. This next verse is very important!
Matthew 5:17-18
"Don't misunderstand why I have come I did not cme to abolish the law of Moses or the writings of the prophets. No, I came to accomplish their purpose. I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not even the smallest detail of God's law will disappear until its purpose is achieved."
Some people believe that when Jesus came that the old law was gone. This CLEARY states otherwise. Then Jesus emphasizes how He views anger. Killing alone is bad,but He says that even being ANGRY at someone is murder (in your mind). Cursing someone, calling someone an idiot, all of it is anger and anger is murder in your mind. If you think murder, you commit murder. Just the same with sexual sin, if you think lustful, you are commiting adultery. Also, if a man (or woman) divorces his or her husband without commiing adultery (just like they don't get along anymore) he or she makes the one who suffered the divorce ( not made it ) an adulterer. But if the one who began the divorce had an affair before hand the loyal one is not made an adulterer. And keep promises! Don't say "maybe I'll do it," just say yes or no and get it done. Maybe is of the"evil one". Revenge? What is revenge. NO REVENGE!! If someone slaps you take it and turn your other cheek!! Let them slap it too!! The rest of chapter 5 YOU have to read so I know you're reading your Bible too!
Chapter 6
This is where He teaches us how to give to the needy, how to pray!!! If any of you know me, you know I LOVE to pray. Why wouldn't you love to talk to God? Why woudn't you want to tell Jesus that you love Him? Just look up and imagine He is there, looking at you, watching you, listening to you. He is, but you can't see Him. So just imagine He's there. Say "I love you Daddy. Thank you for wakin' me up this morning. Thank you for breakfast, thank you." Even when you're "alone" (you're never alone) talk to Him like He is your self. Tell Him what's goin' on. Yes, He already knows.. but jjust like a friend who already knows, tell Him. He tells us about fasting, how to do it right, what not to do... Not to keep treasures on earth, build up your treasure in heaven! Also don't worry! Give it all to God. He wants us to be happy and worrying does no such thing. I heard this quote on KSWP earlier, "Why worry about the troubles of tomorrow, when you know Who holds tomorrow?" or something along those lines. Amazing right?
Chapter 7
Here He covers the ask, seek, knock thing. Ask the Father for what you need, He will provide. And trust me with this one guys!! He does! Seek Him and you will find Him in you, moving in you. Knock and the dorr will be openned. When you were little and you told your mom you were thirsty, did she give you dirt? God is your Father, wy would He not give you water? He would!! Do to others like you would like to be done to you. THE GOLDEN RULE!! There is only one way to heaven, and that is through Jesus.
He says, "Noone comes to the Father except through me." John 14:3
Have a relationship with Jesus. Don't just say you're doing things in His name. Don't. What He wants you to do it to actually carry out actions of compassion for Him in His name. Pray to Him, talk to Him, have a strong relationship that CANNOT be shaken!
That's it today. I know a lot of it is the story line, but I also threw a LOT of my opinions in there! How I view things.

Meditation? Remember up there ^ ^ ^ where I told you to imagine talking directly to God, Directly to Jesus your Savior? Do it, it is so relaxing to talk to this wonderful God! He has his way of calming, give Him your troubles. Don't Only thank Him and ak Him for things! Praise Him! Have a great night!

Day 20/365 Bible in a Year
Today I read Isaiah 12-17.
This book is a book of prophecy. I wrote down some of my favorite verse out of this section earlier. I have to go get them out of my car.........................................................................................................................

Isaiah 12:6
"For great is the Holy One of Israel who lives among you."
Isaiah 13:9-12
"The day of the Lord is coming. It will be a terrible day. The Lord's burning anger will blaze out. He will make the land dry and empty. He'll destroy the sinners in it. All of the stars in the sky will stop giving their light. The sun will be darkened as soon as it rises. The moon will not shine. The Lord will punish the world because it is so evil. He will punish evil people for their sins. He'll put an end to the bragging of those who are proud. He'll bring down the pride of those who don't show any pity. He'll make men harder to find than pure gold. They will be harder to find than gold from Ophir."
Isaiah 14:12-17
"King of Babylonia, you thought you were the bright morning star. But now you have fallen from heaven! You once brought nations down. But now you have been thrown down to the earth! You said in your heart, 'I will go up to heaven. I'll raise my throne above the stars of God. I'll sit as king on the mountain where the gods meet. I'll set up my throne on the highest slopes of the sacred mountain. I will rise above the tops of the clouds. I'll make myself like the Most High God.' But now you have been brought down to the grave. You have been thrown into the deepest part of the pit. "Those who see you stare at you. They think about what has happened to you. They say to themselves, 'Is this the man who shook the earth? Is he the one who made kingdoms tremble with fear? Did he turn the world into a desert? Did he destroy its cities? Did he refuse to let his prisoners go home?'"

Day 15/365 Bible in a Year
Today I am reading Romans 5-6. The first part is called "Faith Brings Joy", you know? Those little title type things they label sections with in your Bible? That's what I mean.
Chapter 5
Key verse, and favorite verse from this chapter is 17.
"For the sin of one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God's wonderful grace and His gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one Man, Jesus Christ."
Adam, the first man on earth drove us all down to the sinful pits of...well...SIN! He and his wife betrayed God's trust. They sinned before there was a law to sin against. Yes, people sinned before there were laws, they just didn't know they were sinning. God gave us laws so we could see how bad off we were into sin...but it just became a common thing to do.
God gaves us grace after that. Grace was something not many found for a while. It was the light in the darkness, the good amongst all the bad. But God then sent His son Jesus to die for us. He died for a bunch of sinners like us. Like it says in verse 7, most people wouldn't even die for a righteous man these days..maybe for a really good guy.... but sinners? Jesus did it. Thank you Lord, you saved us all from Hell. We just need to belive in you the way you believe in us.
Chapter 6
This section is actually titled "Sin's Power is Broken". Already sounds amazing right? THe first paragragh of this chapter gives me chills. Go read Romans 6:1-4 and tell me it doesn't give you chills. It actually tells you what a baptism is and what it stands for.
There are a few verses I ABSOLUTELY love in this chapter.
Verse 6
"We know that our old sinful selves were crucified with Christ so that sin might lose its power in our lives. WE ARE NO LONGER SLAVES TO SIN."
Verses 10-11
"(10)When He died, He died once to break the power of sin. But now that He lives, He lives for the glory of God.(11)So you should also consider yourselves to be dead to the power of sin and alive to God through Christ Jesus."
Amen?
And finally verse 22-23
"(22)But now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God. Now you do those things that lead to holiness and result in eternal life. (23)For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Christ Jesus our Lord."

Kindness and Compassion
Today was pretty fun. I read my Bible, I wrote my blog.. about to post it here in a few.. I watched movies with my family and had family time.. Pretty much a great day. Then I studied. Haha.
I was thinking aabout things along the lines of kindness and compassion earlier. We have this essay we are writing a rough draft for in Composition. The quote we started with was "Kindness gives to another, compassion knows no other" It was only to get our minds stirring for this esay, but I swear up and down...maybe even left and right that Ms. Wijntjes was once a motivational speaker.. Had to be.. She literally puts yu into the shoes of other people. I have been a compassionate person for a bit (ever since right before I was called to do mission work) and here lately it's been getting deeper. I have begun thinking about how I can be MORE compassionate. And then I realized it's no thinking thing! Compassion has started to just come to me! I understand why Jesus died for everyone. He had been in their place, He had been tempted and tried.. He had been there with the sinners and dined with them and told them stories. He loved them! Love people, people! Love them, love everyone!

I have been a compassionate person for a bit (ever since right before I was called to do mission work) and here lately it's been getting deeper. I have begun thinking about how I can be MORE compassionate. And then I realized it's no thinking thing! Compassion has started to just come to me! I understand why Jesus died for everyone. He had been in their place, He had been tempted and tried.. He had been there with the sinners and dined with them and told them stories. He loved them! Love people, people! Love them, love everyone!

Day 14/365 Bible in a Year
Today I read Matthew 3-4. But I am going to read ahead a few days soon.
Chapter 3 was about Jesus being baptized. My main focus is verses 13-17. Jesus went tomeet with John the Baptist. John thought that Jesus should baptize him, but you know what Jesus said? "It should be done [that John baptize Jesus], for we must carry out all that God requires."
Notice that? God REQUIRES this. It's not an option. It's not probably going to happen. It WILL happen. Once you are saved you follow up with a baptism. It's how you profess publicly for the first time your new faith in Christ. I LOVE THIS!
God calls down from Heaven that He is proud of His son, He says, "This is my dearly loved Son, who brings me great joy." Amazing right?
Chapter 4 is a little rougher and a lot less easy (harder). Jesus, after His baptism, is sent into the wilderness. He fasts for 40 days and 40 nights and prays. My favorite verse in this chapter is verse 10. Satan is tempting Jesus with th world. He offers all of the kingdoms to Him if He would bow to Satan himself and worhsip him just once.
Jesus says, "Get out of here, Satan, for the scripture says, 'You must worship the Lord your God and serve Him only.'"
Then Satan leaves and the Lord's angels come down and take care of Jesus.
Then Jesus begins His ministry. He tells people of who He is and who God is and how they should worship according to God. He tells them to repent and turn to God. And he finds a few of His apostles. The first 4 are brothers. (2 are brothers and the othe 2 are brothers hehe not all 4 brothers :D)

and
James and John.
They all just up and left what they were doing to be with Jesus.

Prayer/Praise
Life is grand, God is great!
He's the way, that's no debate.
Love, He does. Hurt Him, we do.
And why? No reason. He died for you!
Come on people, praise the Lord.
Sing with me, a beautiful chord.
God's love is shown in the world around us,
faith, love, and hope, and peace surround us.
So thank you Lord for this beautiful life,
this wisp of fog in You wonderous light.
Thanks for answering the prayers that have been, and for being so evident in my life,

Day 7/365 Bible in a Year
So today I read Matthew 1-2.
Chapter one goes through all of the decendants of Abraham...14 generations until David....14 generations from David to the Babyloni exile...and 14 generations from the exile to the Messiah (Jesus). Altogether thats 42 generation from Abraham to Jesus Christ. LOOOONNNNGGG family tree, right?
Well it came all the way down to Joseph, Mary's husband... and Mary became pregnant as a virgin. Everyone knows that now-a-days if you end up pregnant, you did something you either weren't supposed to, or you were married and wanting a family. But Mary was a VIRGIN, did you catch that? God gave Mary a child that was His. Mary and Joseph weren't even technically married, they were engaged to be married. Well Josph discovered this little detail about Mary and decde that she cheated on him, and he was going to seperate from her quietly.
I did say quietly. He wasn't going to tell ANYONE what happened. He was a pretty genuine guy, right? He didn't want to embarass her... While he was thinking baout that one night while he was falling asleep the Lord appeared to him in his sleep. He told Joseph to stay with Mary, that that baby was God's son, and Joseph was to name that baby Jesus. Your son will save the world, save all the people from their sins.
Could you imagine? A baby that could change the world... Save people from their sin.. how? What? Huh? Joseph was probabl speechless...wouldn't you be? It kind of reminds me of that movie "Four Christmases" I don't recommend the movie if you are trying to stay away from the secular world..but it is a funny movie, a romantic comedy if you will. There is a scene in there somewhere when the two main characters volunteer to be part of the "Christmas Pageant". The guy says these words, about, "Would it be okay? My wife comes to me to tell me she's pregnant and it's not my baby? It's God's baby... does that make it okay?" That might have been what was going through Joseph's mind.
Joseph went back to Mary, stayed away from sexual relations with her until Jesus was born, and was happy.
Chapter 2 some wise men were on the way to visit Jesus, they stopped by Herod's palace to ask where He was, the "New born King of the Jews". Herod wanted to know immediately where this baby was... He even told the wise men to find Him and come back to tell him here He was at so he could go worship Him too. But the wise men were told by God in a dream not to go back to King Herod.
They walked into the barn thing... ?... they saw Mary and her son, Jesus as a child.. a baby. so vulnerable, so cute and cuddly.... Can you imagine seeing a baby that would be the King..? Wow. They worshipped Him and gave Him gifts. Then the wise men went a different route home to avoid Herod.
oseph goes to bed and God appear to him again in his sleep. He tells him to wake up and leave with his son and Mary, Herod's coming to kill the baby! So Joseph get's up and take his family where God tells him to...which is....Egypt!
Herod get so angry because the wise men had tricked him that he makes orders to kill every male child in and aroung Bethlehem who was 2 years old or younger based on how the wise men told him the star appeared. All those innocent children dead in at least 2 weeks.. can you imagine the mourning around the country..?
Well, Herod eventually died and God told Jospeh in another dream to take his family and go back because he was dead, so they left but Joseph was afraid because Herod's son was ruling so God told them to go to the region of Galilee. Ending up in Nazareth and fulfilling the prophecy that He would be called a Nazarene.
All things work for the glory of God, am I right? The Bible says that in Romans 8:28 that "we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them."
